Launching of an advanced semiconductor manufacturing factory in Hokkaido by Rapidus cooperation, demands on the semiconductor human resource development are increasing. However, in this point of view, the ability of academia in Hokkaido area is unknown for most of the people. On this background, in this talk I describe the recent work of academia in Hokkaido for the rise and development of the big advanced semiconductor industry.
We educate value-creating human resources who are specialists in the materials, design, and manufacturing of semiconductors and integrated circuits, at the same time who understand semiconductors and integrated circuits required for social change, and who can reflect this in the design and manufacture. In this presentation, current status of human resource development at Education Center for Semiconductors and Value Creation, Kyushu University will be reported.
The project overview of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) will be presented. Since TSMC’s decision to construct a new factory in Kumamoto was announced, expectations for nurturing human resources for the semiconductor industry have rapidly increased toward NIT. In response, NIT Kumamoto College and NIT Sasebo College have been leading semiconductor-related educational efforts across NIT colleges nationwide, working in collaboration since the start of the 2022 academic year.
