Chief Supply Chain Officer, Intel

Dr. Randhir Thakur is corporate vice president and chief supply chain officer at Intel Corp. In this role, he is responsible for Intel’s Global Supply Chain and drives ecosystem engagement across technology, design, manufacturing and product supply chains, reporting directly to the CEO.

His team enables Intel’s product life cycle from research and development to high-volume manufacturing, both internally and externally. His organization also manages corporate sourcing and procurement, supply chain operations, as well as worldwide planning and ​logistics of product delivery to customers.

A veteran of the semiconductor industry, Thakur joined Intel in 2017. Previously, he served as executive vice president and general manager of the silicon systems group at Applied Materials Inc., where he had overall responsibility for the company’s portfolio of semiconductor business. Previously at Applied Materials, he led the company’s flat-panel display and solar business.

Before rejoining Applied Materials in 2008, Thakur served as executive vice president at SanDisk Corp., where he was responsible for NAND technology and fabrication operations and head of worldwide operations and supply chain. He initially joined Applied Materials in 2000 and spent his first five years at the company holding leadership roles within its semiconductor product groups. Earlier in his more than 25-year career, he served as general manager at Steag Electronic Systems AG and held various technical leadership positions at Micron Technology Inc.

Thakur earned a bachelor’s degree in electronics and telecommunications engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra, in India; a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada; and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Oklahoma. A Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), Thakur has made seminal contributions to the semiconductor industry and holds more than 300 patents.
