Events including the Lehman Brothers shock and the Great East Japan Earthquake have brought huge impacts in the world for the past few years. Meanwhile other major trends are reshaping the world, such as the effort to achieve a sustainable society and the rapid growth of demand in emerging countries.
This presentation will first introduce lessons we learned from the earthquake and our initiatives to establish new BCP (Business Continuity Plan). Then we will provide a global overview of changes in the semiconductor business environment and emerging markets. From the standpoint of a semiconductor company, we will also describe our efforts to realize Smart Society and our strategy going forward.

In addition to fables companies, IDMs have discovered that the operation excellence offered by the 200mm Fabs provide a strong value proposition in their corporate directions to diversify their manufacturing base and transform into a fab-lite corporation. GLOBALFOUNDRIES is committed to be a long term supplier by investing in capacity to address the growing demands of IDMs who are transitioning to fab-lite or fables business models. GLOBALFOUNDRIES is expanding its operations in Fab 1in Dresden and Fab 7 in Singapore and is progressing towards getting Fab 8 ready in Saratoga County, New York to support 300mm and beyond.
